Dear colleagues,
Berkeley Lab’s open and collaborative research environment is dependent in part on our worldwide collaborations, some of which require our people to conduct research or attend meetings in other countries. International travel and research require Lab approvals, and special considerations apply when traveling to or through DOE-designated countries of risk.*
If you are considering international travel to a country of risk during which you will conduct any Lab work, please contact your division office as soon as you begin making travel plans for assistance with requirements and resources. This applies to all international travel to a country of risk regardless of destination or duration, including travel related to conferences, formal telework arrangements, or incidental work while on personal travel. It does not apply to personal travel if the traveler does not conduct Lab work, including incidental work.
If you have any questions, please contact the Research Compliance Office at researchsecurity@lbl.gov.
