Berkeley Lab has several sources of internal-use funds allocated and managed by the Lab Directorate. These funds may be provided for different stages of the scientific R&D process, from initiative or project planning to execution to post-completion tech transfer.
The Discretionary Funding Office is responsible for oversight and management for each of the following funding sources: Lab Directed Research and Development (LDRD), Royalties, Contractor Supported Research (CSR), and Strategic Planning and Support Activities (SPSA).
For additional details on each source, including what each source may be used for and how to apply, please visit: https://research.lbl.gov/service/funding-opportunities/discretionary-funding.
