The goal of each strategic planning support activity (SPSA) is to build scientific plans and management approaches for efforts of national significance that effectively apply the Laboratory’s capabilities within the DOE laboratory system, and build on both the Laboratory’s competitive advantages and its close coupling to UC Berkeley and other partners. The primary responsibility of the manager of each such effort (there could be more than one going on at a time) will be to engage in planning and assessment work activities to generate interest in the scientific community and the DOE program(s). The Laboratory Director has delegated the review procedures of SPSA to the Office of the Deputy Laboratory Director for Research.
